RESTON, Virginia / November 10, 2015. Broad Valley Micro Fiber Networks Inc. (“Broad Valley” or “Broad Valley MFN”) is celebrating the ground breaking of its new fiber ring in Georgetown, Delaware. Taking part in this event was Governor Jack Markell, Sussex County and Georgetown officials, and other key stakeholders committed to working together to find ways to attract new players to build out fiber facilities where its needed most in the State.

Broad Valley is designing, constructing, and operating an advanced fiber network to address pent up bandwidth infrastructure demand in Southern Delaware. The initial fiber backbone ring of nearly 10 miles will weave through town, passing many key school, library, healthcare, government, public safety, and business locations that make up the DNA of Georgetown, the seat of Sussex County.

“It’s clear better broadband technology is essential for any community to thrive,” said Governor Markell. “We’re grateful Broad Valley is dedicated to improving local community broadband service and helping close the digital divide throughout Delaware.”

The dual conduit system with its first 144 fiber cable installed, will be a diversely routed infrastructure, 100% underground for maximum reliability. This private and secure network will also be connected to internet gateways to serve Georgetown and beyond. Broad Valley will be in a strong position to begin to address the lack of bandwidth services available to the constituents of Southern Delaware including delivery of high capacity Ethernet solutions and leading-edge internet speeds. The underground system is being constructed by S&N Communications, a leading fiber construction company in the Mid-Atlantic.

“Broad Valley’s state-of-the-art fiber network is designed to have a direct impact on bandwidth dependent applications that can boost productivity, economic development, and ultimately create jobs in Southern Delaware. The Broad Valley team strives to make a real difference in the lives of many, as better bandwidth services will lead to advantages in areas such as: education and research, telemedicine, smart farming, and security. We believe that access to better bandwidth services is now a necessity, as opposed to just a convenience in the past”, according to Broad Valley’s Founder and Chief Executive, Peter D. Aquino.

In addition, Broad Valley’s fiber ring can also be leveraged in the near future to reach select underserved locations throughout Sussex County, including segments of agriculture and farming, through improved wireless data solutions until direct fiber connections are available. The experienced management team of Broad Valley will be creative and flexible in engineering custom solutions, led by Broad Valley’s CTO, Ken Savel, that can now be connected to the robust capabilities of the Georgetown Ring.

“Sussex County is proud to be the anchor tenant for the new Georgetown fiber ring, which will connect the County’s computer networks with state-of-the-art service,” County Administrator Todd F. Lawson said. “Thanks to the support of Broad Valley and the County’s IT staff, as well as the County Council’s endorsement, the fiber ring ensures the County government has constant, reliable connectivity for its systems, a critical must in today’s 24/7 economy. More importantly, though, this project paves the way for other customers along the route to tap in and utilize the virtually limitless high-speed access that will be made possible with the fiber ring. That’s great news for anyone doing business around the corner or around the globe.”

Today, Broad Valley is also announcing key relationships and strategic initiatives for network and service expansion in Delaware in early 2016, including:

  • A strategic partnership with Delmarva VoIP led by Delaware entrepreneur – Jack Berberian – to bundle its digital voice products with Broad Valley MFN’s new bandwidth infrastructure services including high-speed direct internet access service. Broad Valley’s General Manager Richard Beville will lead the initiative in deploying a “Double Play” for customers.

“With Delmarva VoIP’s long-standing commitment to bringing improved benefits of state-of-the-art Internet and IT communications services to residents and businesses alike, our new partnership on this project with the Broad Valley network will bring unparalleled telecommunications services to Sussex County.  Additionally, these improvements in technology will lead to an increase in high tech jobs throughout the area”, said Jack Berberian, President and Founder of Delmarva VoIP.

  • Plans to construct its first datacenter in Georgetown connected to its high capacity fiber ring. The on-net datacenter will be the first of its kind in Georgetown, and designed for Colocation and Managed Services.
  • Wireless Data (WiFi) and Point to Multi-Point wireless broadband for immediate relief for underserved customers originating from Georgetown.
